Weekly Reflection 1: Introduction to course and technology in the classroom

This video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XfOLUJeh0II brought a fresh perspective on technology use in classrooms. I think more recently, the words technology and AI are used interchangeably, where I think they should be spoken about in relation to education as two separate resources with differing opportunities to support and challenge. The reference to the philosopher Socrates being “anti-book” as a new technology in his time reinforced this idea for me. How information is presentedcan be enhanced through technology, like being permanent as written in a book rather than spoken word. Or through a video which can be slowed down, rewatched or subtitled rather than a spoken lecture.

I am someone who loves the idea of journaling but finds the physical aspect of handwriting messy and not a great way for me to get my ideas out. Writing in a blog where I can edit and access at different times is more desirable to me. Creating a blog and tracking my process of both integrating technology into my own life and my future career as an educator is a meta way of learning how technology can be utilized as a helfpul tool for learning rather than a quick fix for teaching.
